Behind the Scenes
July 2004 Edition

preliminary illustration rendered by Romy Cayetano -- plus new elements: the Hive and TimeSaber (timeship) rendered by Benjamin Litteer.

TIMEPULSE, the first motion picture brief description:
Torn from her life in the future, Ke'la is forced into a mission with no return and no end. Ben lives in the present but is caught in the past. Together, they are humanity's last hope to stop genetic armaggedon.

In the earth of the future, various groups have chosen to modify their DNA to mix it with those of other creatures.

Illustrator Jonathan Colton rendered this rough draft of Fesah, who is a hybrid human/cat. Fesah is a member of the Time Trust (part of The Alliance.)

Illustrator Lanny Liu rendered this rough draft sketch showing Ke'la (a woman from the future) and Ben (a man from the present) starting to discover their loving feelings for each other. Ben gets a big surprise!

Illustrator Po-Ming Chu rendered this rough draft of Ben using a jetpack to fly up and catch Ke'la who was falling. Unfortunately, the Shynnadth throws a steel bar which causes an explosion in the jetpack. Ben and Ke'la will fall to their deaths -- unless Ke'la can use her powerglove to save them.

Concept Artist Ken Nguyen rendered this rough draft of the Shynnadth, who is a hybrid human/insect. The Shynnadth is the opponent of Ke'la -- and the Shynnadth is going back in time to 2006 to convert humans into twisted forms of itself. Ke'la has enlisted Ben, David, and Dr. Janice Blaisden to stop the Shynnadth's horrible plan.

Illustrator Crystal Eldridge rendered this rough draft of a little girl in 2015 who has been subjected to mutation due to the Shynnadth's horrible efforts to convert 21st Century humans into creatures resembling itself. The hybrid process has gone horribly wrong. When Ke'la arrives in 2015 in her TimeSaber (time travel ship) - she sees this little girl attempting to walk with her mother down a city block. Ke'la's face hardens with determination as she says, "I will NOT let this happen!" And she immediately goes back to 2006 to stop the horror from happening.

Illustrator Cliff Chew rendered this rough draft of Ke'la in an alternative uniform.

Concept Artist Ken Nguyen rendered this rough draft of a fight scene.

Illustrator Mike Ryan rendered this rough draft sketch showing a Sharkhan (human/shark hybrid) and Dolphkeen (human/dolphin).
